Nickel metal has a silvery-white luster and a slight golden color. Nickel is a transition metal, hard and ductile. Pure nickel, powdered to maximize the reactive surface area, shows a significant chemical activity, but larger pieces are slow to react with air under standard conditions because an oxide layer forms on the surface and prevents further corrosion (passivation). Nickel alloy powder includes Ni-B-Si, Ni-Cr-B-Si, Ni-Cr-B-Si-Fe, Ni-Cr-B-Si-P, Ni-Cr-B-Si-Cu-Mo, Ni-Cr-B-Si-W, Ni-Cr and Ni-Cu Series. This group of alloys is used for their outstanding corrosion and high-temperature resistance.
