Tin Sputtering Target Description

Tin

The tin sputtering target, made of high purity tin metal with a silvery lustrous gray appearance, is an essential component for thin film deposition processes. With a history dating back to 3500 BC, tin, also known as stannum, has the chemical symbol “Sn” and falls under Period 5 and Group 14 in the periodic table of elements as a p-block element with an atomic number of 50. The high-quality tin sputtering target has a relative atomic mass of 118.710(7) Dalton and is a critical component in numerous industrial applications.

Tin Sputtering Target Application

Tin sputtering targets are crucial in the thin film deposition process and are widely used in different industries such as fuel cells, semiconductor production, displays, LED and photovoltaic devices, and glass coating. Tin is also used to coat other metals to prevent corrosion and is important in several tin alloys such as soft solder, pewter, bronze, and phosphor bronze. These alloys have unique properties that make them ideal for various applications. For example, the niobium-tin alloy is important in the production of superconducting magnets.
